Southeast New Mexico Economy Subject of Free Federal Reserve Conference

DALLASThe future of the southeast New Mexico economy is the focus of two free conferences in Carlsbad and Hobbs sponsored by the El Paso Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

“The Role of Southeast New Mexico in the Global Economy” will be held from 11 a.m. to 4:25 p.m. June 10 at the Pecos River Village Conference Center, 711 Muscatel Ave., Carlsbad.

A second session will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. June 11 at the Lea County Event Center Banquet Hall, 5101 N. Lovington Highway, Hobbs.

Participants can register online to attend the event. The registration deadline is June 6, and admission is free. Limited seating is available.

“Speakers at this conference will examine recent economic trends in the area and offer remarks on future economic performance in the region,” said Robert Coronado, assistant vice president in charge of the Dallas Fed’s El Paso Branch. “This is valuable information for anyone interested in the southeast New Mexico economy, such as business owners and operators and community leaders.”

Conference sessions will explore economic drivers in southeast New Mexico, including energy and trade, as well as the current state of the United States and global economies.

Speakers will include Roberto Coronado, Jesse Thompson and Michael Sposi of the Dallas Fed; Jim Peach of New Mexico State University; and Jerry Pacheco of Global Perspectives Integrated.
